Dear Gordon

‘Dear Gordon’ is a six-month project, which includes an exhibition of contemporary visual art incorporating the written word in powerful and innovative ways. The art shown in the Claremont Studios (CS) Project Space will be by a mixture of established international artists showing alongside and thus supporting CS artists and recent graduates. The exhibition will provide a focus for 8 workshop sessions for young men to explore use of text in art, texting, how technology is changing the way they communicate with their peers and the impact of the words and images they chose.

Jonathan Cole Painting 12th April – 3rd May

In 2007 Jonathan Cole was tragically killed in an accident in Cambodia at the age of 44. In his Hastings studio he left behind a large collection of paintings spanning more than twenty years. Seven years on this exhibition will both introduce Cole’s late works to a new audience, and serve as a timely opportunity for those familiar with his work to see it again in a new context.

Along with the Publication, Hocus Pocus, that accompanies the exhibition, many of the paintings will be available for sale with the profits going towards the Jon Cole Memorial Fund, which will be used to set up an annual art prize.
